When in uni, having a mobile phone is a very effective way to stay connected with your family. Though sometimes parents do not tell their kids that they will dearly miss them, the truth is parents will truly miss having their children around. You can make your parents happy by contacting them frequently through a cellular phone. You may also miss the friends you made back at home and in high school. You can still be in touch with them by sending them text messages or calling them through your phone.
You will not be with your parents most of the time when in university. As technologies advance, security risks have increased as well. Make sure to remember safety measures when using your phone. Do not forget where you place your phone at all times. Keep your phone in a secure location like inside your jacket pocket or zipped in your purse or rucksack. And if ever you notice the phone is missing, tell whoever is in charge and call the phone service company so that they can discontinue the service. This way, the phone cannot be used if it is in the hands of someone else.
There have been a number of harassment cases through cell phones. Make sure you give your number only to people you trust. Also, do not reply to messages that are from people you do not know. One other thing to remember is the school policies when it comes to using phones. Texting and receiving calls inside the classroom can disrupt the class. Having a cell phone is very useful whilst in university but remember that there are limitations when using it in the classroom.
