Decorating a Girl's Dorm Room

One of the greatest things about college life is picking out your dorm. For teenagers who will be living away from home for the first time, this can be quite an overwhelming situation. However, staying in a dorm will mean sharing it someone else and only have limited living space. Moreover, this also means that you do not have that much privacy, which is always an issue especially for teenage girls. To solve this problem, one can use a room divider to set the space apart. Do talk to your dorm mate, though, as this is nothing personal. One will find cheap room dividers in all sorts of styles and designs that will surely fit your room's decor.

Since dorms will most likely use tiles for flooring, you can accentuate it with throw rugs to make the room cosier and warmer. Make sure to pick out something that will complement the theme you are going for. For the walls, instead of painting them and go through all the trouble of asking for permission from the administrator, you can use picture frames, posters or even vinyl wall decor. You can hang up your favourite pictures in cool and funky frames or make your own vinyl wall decor using self-adhesive paper.

When it comes to bedding, you can find shops that sell cheap but good quality ones. Again, make sure to complement the look and feel you are aiming for in your side of the room. If you are ever going to use some furniture like a study table, lamp, computer, etc., make sure that you stick to your side of the room and keep it to minimal so as not to alienate your dorm mate.
